(Alamo Area Society of Radiologic Technologists) – January 2009

 

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Next meeting – January 15 at the John E. Hornbeak building (IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND, PLEASE RSVP!).  We’ll be meeting on Thursday evening (January 15) in the Aransas and Brazos rooms on the 2nd floor of the John E. Hornbeak Building, 4450 Medical Drive.  Park in the garage or ground-level parking lot.  Attendants are gone by the time we conclude, so the parking is free.  Deborah Southwell will be our speaker on the topic, “Diagnosing Wrist Fractures with Ionizing Radiation”.  This meeting will be 1.5 CE credits with the speaker starting at 6:15 pm.  Refreshments and sign-in will be available at 5:45 pm.  New members are always welcome.  For food planning purposes, RSVP no later than Tuesday noon (01/13/09) to Angie Rabb by phone at (210) 232-8285 or email: arabb[at]mail[dot]accd[dot]com.  (If you RSVP, we expect you to attend!)

 

November 20 – Dr. Steve Wegert did a great job with his 1.5 CE lecture on Endograft Repair of Thoracic and Abdominal Aneurysms.  31 members and two guests were present.

 

 

As always, we frequently need assistance with upcoming meetings.  Please contact any officer if you can help with a speaker or to help with refreshments / supplies.

            Jan 15                  (Seminar FREE to AASRT members)

 

Does your facility have job openings?   The AASRT will happily run a 1-month listing free of charge on our website.  Call John at 656-6185 or fax job listing details to 210-320-7025.

 

The AASRT website will keep anyone with computer access current on happenings in the community.  Webmaster Sam Vargas volunteers his time in support of our website.  Recent newsletters, links to other professional groups, and AASRT news can always be found at www.aasrt.org  This website also has a page with a current membership list.  If you have forgotten when your membership expires, check the site.  If your name is NOT listed, you are no longer current.  Dates should match what is on your membership card.  Please call or email Angie Rabb if you think you’ve found an error.

 

Check your Membership Card:   If your membership expiration is noted as 01/31/09, this will be your last newsletter unless you renew.  Applicants may renew (or join) at any time.  Annual dues are $35 per year and you’re getting lots of ‘bang for the buck’ with CE and meals with a newsletter in any month there is a meeting, and the website that is available to all technologists with computer access.  For anyone whose membership is current, renewing simply adds 12 months to that renewal date.  Anyone can join (or re-join/renew) at any time using the renewal form.

 

Students are welcome to join! Radiography students will be given a discounted membership rate of $10 per year.  Students must provide proof of student status and expected graduation date (letter from the program director).  This discounted membership does not apply to students who are already registered in a primary modality.
